As a medical technology manufacturer and one of Europe’s largest suppliers in the field of medical drainage, we support hospitals in the treatment of ascites and pleural effusions. If required, we are on site during the placement of the drainage, i.e. the implantation of the PleurX™ pleural or ascites catheter, drainova® catheter or drainova® ArgentiC, and provide training for the specialists on the wards in the use of our drainage systems. For drainage after surgery, we supply hospitals with appropriate clinical supplies.
We are happy to consult with our clinicians to find the optimal treatment for a patient with pleural effusion or ascites. Our range of medical drainage products range from catheters to products for puncture, clinical supplies for drainage and materials for patient home care.

For the treatment of pleural effusions and ascites, drainage systems are a very good alternative to punctures, which are a painful burden for patients, especially in the case of recurrent effusions. Within a minimally invasive surgery, a catheter is implanted for drainage of pleural effusions or ascites. Patients are, after training by our training staff, henceforth able to drain themselves or, if necessary, with the assistance of family members or caregivers. Our products eliminate the need for the patient to go to the clinic for drainage and eliminate repeated, painful procedures to puncture the effusions.

Founded in 1991 as a sideline medical technology company focussing on the distribution of medical devices, ewimed is already represented in 6 European countries with its trading partners ewimed Switzerland and ewimed Sweden. Today ewimed concentrates on drainage in medicine, especially for the treatment of pleural effusions and ascites. ewimed is also active in development and as a manufacturer in medical technology.
