Information for the general practitioner
Information for the general practitioner
Following the implantation of a catheter and discharge from the hospital, the attending primary care physician requires information from you for the patient’s follow-up care.
In addition to the usual reports on the patient’s health, please provide him with our company data, our discharge order, the catheter passport and a doctor’s letter with the following information:
- Where was the catheter placed for long-term intermittent drainage?
(Pleural effusion left / right, ascites left / right, multiple catheters). - Two incisions were made for implantation.
The skin thread should be removed after 7 – 10 days and the retaining thread on the catheter after approx. 30 days. - Please make an interval recommendation.
For training and better coordination with the patient, it would be helpful if you could communicate the drainage volume and intervals. - Inform the resident physician that ewimed has already been informed of the patient’s discharge and that a training staff member will contact the patient, his relatives or the contracted nursing service in a timely manner to arrange a training appointment. The patient is then also provided with the first drainage set during training.
- For the future supply of drainage sets, the patient needs a prescription issued by the general practitioner. A drainage set includes a reservoir and a dressing set and has the following aid number: 01.24.05.0002.
